With an explosive performance in the second half, the Nuggets secured the lead, outscoring the Lakers by 15 points in the third quarter. Nikola Jokic led the charge with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Jamal Murray added 22 points.

Despite a strong start from the Lakers, led by Anthony Davis's 25 points and LeBron James's 22, the Nuggets' defense proved too formidable. The Nuggets held the Lakers to just 39.8% shooting from the field and forced 15 turnovers.

"We knew this would be a tough series, but we played with great composure and executed our game plan," said Nuggets head coach Michael Malone. "Our defense was outstanding tonight, and we got contributions from everyone on the team."

Game 2 of the Western Conference first-round series is set for Sunday night in Denver. The Nuggets will look to extend their lead, while the Lakers will aim to bounce back and tie the series.
