George Floyd Told Officers I Can't Breathe More Than 20 Times Before He Died Transcript Reveals

New transcript drawn from police body cam footage

Floyd told police he was claustrophobic and struggling to breathe before he ended up on the Minneapolis pavement with an officer's knee on his neck.

Around 16 minutes into the footage, Floyd's last words are heard: "Man, I can't breathe." Paramedics are seen with Floyd a little over 9 minutes later.

The new transcript, released by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, provides a more detailed account of Floyd's final moments.

In the transcript, Floyd can be heard telling officers that he is claustrophobic and that he is struggling to breathe.

"I can't breathe," Floyd says. "Please, man. I can't breathe."

The officers tell Floyd to calm down and to stop resisting.

"I'm not resisting," Floyd says.

The officers continue to hold Floyd down, and he eventually becomes unresponsive.

The transcript ends with the officers calling for paramedics.

Floyd's death sparked nationwide protests over police brutality and racial injustice.
