Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 Race Won by Jenson Button
The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix, formally known as the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2011, was a Formula One motor race held on 12 June 2011 at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The race was won by Jenson Button of the McLaren team, with Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull team finishing second and Mark Webber of the Red Bull team finishing third.
Button's Victory
Button's victory was his first of the 2011 season and the 15th of his career. He started the race in fourth position but moved up to second on the opening lap and took the lead on lap 10 when Vettel made a pit stop. Button held the lead for the rest of the race, despite a late challenge from Vettel.
Vettel's Second Place Finish
Vettel's second place finish was his fourth podium finish of the 2011 season. He started the race in second position but dropped down to fourth on the opening lap. He moved back up to second on lap 10 when Button took the lead and held that position for the rest of the race.
Webber's Third Place Finish
Webber's third place finish was his third podium finish of the 2011 season. He started the race in third position and held that position for the majority of the race. He made a pit stop on lap 11 and dropped down to fourth, but he moved back up to third on lap 18 when Lewis Hamilton of the McLaren team retired from the race. Webber held onto third place for the rest of the race.
