Russell beats Verstappen and Norris to top qualifying

Montreal, Canada - George Russell has taken pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, beating Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Lando Norris to top qualifying. Russell's pole is his first of the 2024 season and the fourth of his Formula 1 career. It is also the first time a Mercedes driver has taken pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix since Lewis Hamilton in 2019. Verstappen was just 0.056 seconds off Russell's pace, with Norris a further 0.123 seconds behind in third. The top three were followed by Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly, and Sebastian Vettel. The race will start at 14:00 local time on Sunday, June 18th.
