US Women's National Team Roster Announced for 2024 Olympics

CHICAGO, June 26, 2024 - US Women's National Team head coach Emma Hayes has named the 18-player roster plus four alternates who will represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The squad includes a mix of experienced veterans and rising stars, with Sophia Smith and Rose Lavelle among the most notable names on the list. Smith, a forward for the Portland Thorns, is one of the most exciting young players in the world, while Lavelle, a midfielder for Manchester City, is a two-time World Cup champion.

Hayes said she is confident in the team's ability to compete for a gold medal in Paris. "We have a great mix of experience and youth on this roster," she said. "I believe we have the talent and the work ethic to be successful at the Olympics."

The USWNT will open its Olympic campaign on July 25 against the Netherlands. They will then face Japan on July 28 and New Zealand on August 1 in the group stage.

The knockout stage begins on August 4 with the quarterfinals. The semifinals will be held on August 7 and 8, and the gold medal match will take place on August 10.
